Is this Australia’s best-kept secret? Just off the Pacific Highway north of Newcastle is the tiny village of Nabiac. Coffee shops … antique stores … and the fabulous National Motorcycle Museum of Australia. By far the greatest collection of bikes in the country.

It’s presided over by the energetic and irrepressible Margaret Kelleher, who has an endless supply of tales to tell. (If you ask nicely, she might recount the amazing story of how she got hold of a spectacular Brough Superior.)

The Brough Superior is only one of the multitude of bikes that can keep you spellbound for hours. I’ll post more about the collection. For now, I’ll simply admit that – if I could ride off with one of Margaret’s collection – it would be this immaculate Norton Commando. Talk about drooling!

Margaret has also sold hundreds of copies of Kazoom: the madcap motorbike race to museum visitors from as far away as Alaska.
